A spectacular coral reef nestled 100 miles off the coast of Galveston, the Flower Garden Banks draws divers from across the world to see this stunning national marine sanctuary. The Flower Garden Banks is one of the healthiest coral reefs in the western hemisphere, and, there are private dive charters offered out of Galveston May through October.
Standing 81 feet, 6 and ¾ inches high, Schlitterbahn’s MASSIV ride is the world’s tallest watercoaster – located right in Galveston. Unlike a waterslide, MASSIV is designed to send riders on both downhill and uphill thrills for one of the most daring experiences across the globe.
To combine the feeling of flying with a refreshing splash of water, go flyboarding! Like a scene out of a futuristic movie, flyboarding allows flyers to strap on a jet-pack device and hover up to 35 feet above Offatts Bayou. Extreme Water Sports has brought this fast-growing sport to the island and offers rides lasting from 20 to 60 minutes.
Guides from the non-profit Artist Boat will lead you on an exciting and interpretive kayak adventure to places of natural significance in Galveston, including its 690-acre Coastal Heritage Preserve, a conservation area on the island’s West End.
